After sunbathing, your skin needs special attention. The Déesse After Sun Gel cools, soothes and provides intensive moisture – ideal for relieving tightness and redness. Aloe vera and panthenol support regeneration and help the skin recover more quickly. This keeps your tan looking beautiful for longer, while your skin feels fresh, nourished and supple.

Prevention is better than aftercare – modern UV filters
Sun exposure is one of the main factors contributing to skin ageing. Déesse’s modern UV filters work effectively against it: they provide reliable protection from harmful rays and help prevent photoageing and pigmentation spots.
Tip: Always apply sun protection products about 20 minutes before going out in the sun and reapply regularly – especially after swimming or sweating.
Prevention rather than aftercare
Prevention is better than repair – and that also applies to sun protection. Déesse’s modern UV filters protect your skin from premature ageing and pigmentation spots. Apply the sun care 20 minutes before sunbathing and reapply regularly, especially after swimming.
Tip: UV protection is important even in the shade or on cloudy days.
Protect yourself properly – four simple steps
1️⃣ Apply: Distribute sun protection evenly
2️⃣ Reapply: Every 2–3 hours, especially after swimming
3️⃣ Hydrate: Drink enough water to keep your skin supple
4️⃣ Care: Soothe your skin after sun exposure with after-sun

The skin’s natural protection time is the amount of time a person can spend in the sun without protection before the skin begins to redden. This duration depends on skin type, the intensity of sunlight and environmental factors. In water, the protection time is shortened due to the reflection of sunlight.
Recommendation: Use only 60% of your natural protection time for extra safety and shorter sunbathing sessions, as the reduced protection time allows only brief exposure to the sun.
Apply sun protection 20 minutes before your first sun exposure. Only then is full protection ensured. Even with a very high sun protection factor, your skin will still develop a deep tan – it may take a little longer, but it’s a much healthier way to tan.
Avoid the intense midday sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. In southern countries, this is siesta time for a reason. Half of UV rays can still penetrate sunshades and foliage. Clothing provides only limited protection – a light, thin T-shirt, for example, corresponds to about SPF 6.
The reflection from water and sand intensifies the sun’s rays. Your skin “remembers” every sunburn. Even if it appears to recover afterwards, the damage within the skin remains permanent. Frequent sunburns significantly increase the risk of skin cancer.
Opened sun care products from the previous year may have reduced effectiveness. Therefore, it’s best to use them up within six to nine months! Babies should not be exposed to the sun at all, and toddlers only for short periods – always with high sun protection.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I prepare my skin for the sun in a tanning salon?
- Can sun protection be increased by reapplying it several times?
- What else should you keep in mind when applying sunscreen?
- Do clouds and shade protect against UV radiation?
- Why do some sunscreens leave stains on clothing?
The answer is a clear “yes and no.” The benefits and risks of tanning beds are controversial, which is why I personally prefer suitable cosmetic products. These give you a beautiful, natural tan without any risk. If you start using the Déesse Sun Express for sensitive skin regularly about 4–6 weeks before your holiday, it stimulates melanin synthesis in the skin – helping you achieve a deeper tan more quickly once you’re in the sun.
No, SPF values cannot be added together. However, reapplying sunscreen and layering several SPF products can still be beneficial. This is because the chemical UV filters in the skin break down over time. To ensure that the originally chosen protection factor maintains its full effect, you should reapply at least every two hours. Additionally, most people apply far less sunscreen than recommended, which means the actual protection achieved is lower than the SPF stated on the packaging.
Most sunscreens need around 30 minutes to take full effect, meaning their full protection only begins half an hour after application. There are also certain body areas that are often forgotten. These include the ears, the backs of the hands and feet, the soles (especially if you lie on your stomach during the day), the neck, and—particularly for those with thin hair or a bald head—the scalp.
A closed layer of clouds can indeed filter and therefore reduce UV radiation. However, when the cloud cover is broken, UV exposure can actually increase, as the clouds reflect the rays. That’s why it’s important to ensure adequate sun protection even when the sky is overcast.
Staying in the shade is always advisable (especially between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.), but it doesn’t provide complete protection either, since UV rays are scattered on their way to the Earth’s surface and reach us not only from above but also from the sides. This means that while it’s less likely, it’s not impossible to get sunburned in the shade. Therefore, don’t skip sun protection even there. The positive side is that you can still get a tan while staying in the shade.
The appearance of yellow stains on your new summer dress after applying sunscreen can be annoying, but it’s actually a sign of quality — they’re caused by oil-soluble UV filters. To minimise this issue, allow the sunscreen to absorb thoroughly before getting dressed, and choose materials like cotton that can be washed at higher temperatures. Fresh stains are best treated with a grease-dissolving dishwashing liquid, followed by washing the garment as hot as possible. For white fabrics, baking powder can also help – simply sprinkle it onto the dampened fabric, let it sit for about half an hour, and then wash as usual.
