Lip liner is there to follow and define the shape of your lips, not to draw a completely new outline. Start with a light touch and short strokes along your natural lip line.
Remember:For a soft transition between liner and lip colour, choose complementary shades and gently blend the liner inwards.

How to apply lip liner evenly
Use a gentle touch and work on one small section at a time.
Start at the centre of your upper lip
Define the two curves of your Cupid’s bow with short strokes, following your natural lip shape.
Work out towards the corners
Connect the outline gradually from the centre towards the corners of your mouth. Avoid trying to draw the whole line in one movement.
Outline your lower lip
Begin at the centre of your lower lip too, then extend the line gently towards each side.
Blend the colour inwards
Soften the inside edge of your outline. Then apply lipstick or another lip colour that works with your liner.
Check the finished look:Relax your lips and look straight into the mirror. Adjust only those areas where the outline looks noticeably uneven.

Three ways to use lip liner
Define the outline only
Choose a shade close to your natural lip colour. Trace a fine outline and blend it gently inwards.
Blend the colours together
Once you have defined your lips, apply your lipstick. The two colours should merge without an obvious dividing line.
Lightly fill in the lips
You can also use the pencil to add a thin layer of colour across your lips before applying your chosen lip colour on top.
What to avoid
Keep your lip contour soft and balanced
Pressing too firmly
A heavy line is harder to adjust and may stand out against your lipstick. Begin with light pressure instead.
Drawing too far outside your lips
For a natural finish, follow your existing lip contour. Check the result in the mirror with your mouth relaxed.
A harsh colour border
If your liner and lip colour are very different, the outline can look too obvious. Soften the edge by blending inwards.
At the end of the day
Remove lip make-up gently
Remove lip liner and lip colour carefully before bed. With more intense shades, use several gentle passes rather than rubbing vigorously.
