Panthenol
Panthenol is found in wound creams and ointments, but is also contained in eye skin regeneration and is considered an all-round talent: drops, nasal sprays, shampoos and even lozenges. Panthenol is also often at the heart of many skin care products.
What is Panthenol?
- is a colorless liquid with a slight odor of its own
- is a provitamin. This means that it is only converted into vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, in the body. The advantage: provitamins are more stable, so they don't break down as quickly in cosmetic products.
- helps the skin to retain moisture and stimulates lipid synthesis. This strengthens the skin barrier, whereby less moisture evaporates through the skin (this process is also called "transepidermal water loss"). This in turn promotes the elasticity of the skin, among other things.
- regt die Zellbildung in der Ober- und Lederhaut an und wirkt dadurch regenerierend
- wird oft in Haarpflegeprodukten eingesetzt, da sowohl Kopfhaut als auch das Haar selbst von der feuchtigkeitsspendenden Wirkung profitieren
- wirkt beruhigend, weshalb es auch gerne in Sonnenschutzprodukten eingesetzt wird.
Panthenol bietet Vorteile für jeden Hauttyp: Trockene Haut freut sich über die feuchtigkeitsspendende, empfindliche Haut über die beruhigende Wirkung und die Stärkung der Hautbarriere. Auch für unreine Haut ist eine intakte Hautschutzbarriere wichtig, da sie Bakterien und Keime so besser abhalten kann. Für reife Haut spielt vor allem die Anregung der Fettproduktion eine wichtige Rolle.
